It's great that you are trying to get in shape, get healthy and improve your overall get-up and go. But please note that in your zeal to get on one of those popularized low carb diets to shed some pounds, you could also rob yourself of serious of brain power. In the journal, Appetite, February 2009 the research is clear, indeed you can eat yourself stupid, or at the very least significantly dial down your brain power.

It has been discovered that when you eliminate carbohydrates from daily meals, your memory will take a dive. Yet when you reintroduce carbs, your brain should bounces back and your cognitive skills will return normal.

So before you jump on the low-carb or no-carb band wagon think while you still can that you may rob yourself of the ability to think. This problem occurs because your brain's prime fuel is "sugar" in the form of glucose, yet it can't store it, so without a constant supply from your diet it starts struggling to maintain peak performance. The solution, while cranking up the protein, don't forget to eat a wide variety of veggies and a modest amount of carbs. This approach will also make your diet, less of a fad and will help you adopt a sustainable healthy diet for a lifetime.
